Initiating the Purgation Phase: Practical Exercises for the Soul

A solitary figure stands in a bedroom as luminous, smoke-like trails drift around him.

To transition from the theoretical understanding of spiritual gravity into the active lightening of the soul, the seeker must engage in targeted metaphysical exercises. In mystical theology, the Purgation phase is not passive; it is a deliberate refinement of our spiritual frequency.

By applying these three baseline practices, you can actively dismantle the egoic density that anchors consciousness, ensuring your out-of-body ascents are safe, high-reaching, and clear of lower astral deceptions.

1. The Inventory of Density (Radical Self-Honesty)

Before attempting to leave the physical frame, you must confront the hidden weights resting in your subconscious mind. What you harbor by day becomes the architecture of the realms you visit by night.

  • The Practice: Dedicate a quiet period each evening to a rigorous review of your internal state. Sit in silence and mentally trace your day backward. Identify moments where you succumbed to pride, resentment, fear, or the need to control.
  • The Action: Do not coddle or justify these reactions. Name them precisely (e.g., “This is vanity,” “This is a grievance”). By bringing these dense vibrations into the conscious light, you break their magnetic hold on your energy body. Mentally surrender each identified attachment to Christ, offering it up to the divine fire for transmutation before you go to sleep.

2. Custody of the Senses (Vigilance of Mind)

The soul is highly plastic and absorbs the frequencies of its environment. To lighten your spiritual weight, you must strictly govern what passes through the gates of your perception.

  • The Practice: Actively audit your daily consumption. This includes media, chaotic environments, arguments, and low-vibrational associations. If a piece of media or a conversation leaves your spirit feeling heavy, agitated, or deeply entangled in worldly drama, it is adding density to your soul.
  • The Action: Practice deliberate restraint. Create “fasts” from digital noise and trivial distractions. Replace chaotic inputs with silence, nature, or sacred music. By maintaining custody over what enters your mind, you prevent the accumulation of original sin’s modern counterpart: constant mental fragmentation.

3. The Exercise of Total Surrender (Cultivating Buoyancy)

As witnessed in the lower spheres, the instinct of the ego when faced with fear or confusion is to fight, run, or exert control—all of which instantly increase spiritual weight. To bypass these traps, you must train the soul in the mechanics of absolute surrender.

  • The Practice: When you experience moments of internal friction, fear, or anxiety during your waking hours, do not lean into the struggle. Instead, consciously halt your reactions.
  • The Action: Close your eyes, drop all physical tension, and mentally let go of all spiritual and psychological control of your faculties. Surrender your immediate plight entirely to God. Practice “giving your soul to patience,” allowing it to fall away from its own heavy forces so it can be lifted by higher ones. Mastering this muscle of surrender during waking consciousness ensures that if you ever encounter deceptive spirits or dark realms during exploration, you will instinctively rocket away from them into the heavenly spheres.

4. The Four Pillars of Daily Refinement

To sustain a lightweight spiritual frequency, the Purgation phase must be anchored by a daily rhythm of devotion. Just as physical dust accumulates on a surface over time, worldly density naturally settles upon the soul through ordinary daily life. By committing to these four pillars every single day, you establish an unbroken sanctuary within your consciousness, allowing your spirit to remain consistently buoyant and aligned with the higher heavens.

  • Daily Prayer: Prayer is the active alignment of your human will with the Divine Will. Rather than treating prayer as a checklist of demands, approach it as an intimate surrender. Speak honestly to God, confessing your daily attachments and calling upon Christ’s grace to clear your defilement. End your prayers by placing your entire life, safety, and mystical journey into His hands.
  • Meditation: If prayer is your voice speaking to God, meditation is the quiet stillness where your soul listens. Dedicate time each day to sit quietly, drawing your scattered consciousness inward away from the multiplicity of worldly concerns. Focus your attention entirely on the divine presence within, gently letting go of any passing thoughts, memories, or distractions that attempt to anchor your mind.
  • Spiritual Reading: Nourish your mind daily with the writings of ancient sages, Christian mystics, and humanity’s great contemplative traditions. Reading sacred works is not merely an intellectual exercise; it alters your internal vibration. Immersing your intellect in divine truths forces the heavy, trivial distractions of the physical world to fall to the wind, filling your spiritual memory with the universal language of heavenly reality.
  • Time Spent in Silence: True silence is a profound spiritual discipline and a mercy to the modern explorer. Set aside a specific block of time each day to experience complete outer and inner silence. Sit without media, books, or internal dialogue. In this unburdened quiet, your spiritual senses begin to awaken. You allow the heavy vibrations of mortality to drop away, creating an open horizon where your unique creative expression can safely rest in God’s love.
